Ajman Free Zone, established in 1988, was granted autonomous status under the Amiri decree no. 3 of 1996 issued by H.H. Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman. Ajman Free Zone Authority has been named as the sole regulatory agency for Free Zone in the Emirate.

The formation of the Free Zone Authority in 1996 has given great impetus to industrial activity in the Free Zone which has resulted in quadruple growth in the number of companies during the last few years.

Types of licenses available in Ajman free zone :

  1. Trading License: You may apply for one, two, three activities trading license or general trading license. Each of the licenses have different pricing structure.
  2. Professional Service License: This licence is issued to foreign/UAE companies/Free Zone Entities who wish to carry out the business of providing professional/services in the Free Zone.
  3. Industrial License:This licence is issued to foreign/UAE companies/Free Zone Entities who wish to carry out manufacturing activities in the Free Zone.
  4. National Industrial License: This licence is issued to a registered company operating in the Free Zone who meets the following eligibility criteria:
    1. The company should be registered within GCC with a GCC national/s owing majority share holding of 51% or above.
    2. At least 40% of the manufacturing process should be accomplished in the Free Zone. Companies holding a National Industrial Licence are eligible for duty free exports to the member states of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council.

Legal Entities Permitted

  1. Free Zone Establishment (FZE)

    1 shareholder

    FZE is an entity formed and registered in Ajman Free Zone and regulated by the Free Zone Authority, in accordance to the Amiri Decree No. 3 of 1988 as amended by the Amiri Decree No. 3 of 1996. FZE enjoys a separate legal entity and is owned (100%) by either a person or a corporate body. Such an entity must have a capital equivalent to US $50,000. The liability of the owner is limited to the amount of the share capital.

      Documents required
    1. Provision of 5 proposed names
    2. A passport copy that is valid for 6 months minimum. Entry visa stamp copy (or) entry visa copy (or) residence visa copy (or) cancelled visa documentation copy (if applicable).
    3. 10 color passport size photographs with white background
    4. A No Objection Letter from the sponsor in case the applicant has a valid residence in UAE
    5. A 2 page business plan if it’s a professional or e-commerce license. 1 paragraph description of the nature of the business if it’s a commercial trading or general trading company

  2. Free Zone Company (FZC)

    2+ shareholders, maximum 4 shareholders

    Licences under this category are issued to Free Zone Companies incorporates within the Free Zone in accordance with the Amiri Decree. Such company enjoys a separate legal identity and the liability of its owner is limited to the value of the paid up shared capital.

      Documents required
    1. Provision of 5 proposed names
    2. Passport copies that are valid for 6 months minimum, for each partner. Entry visa stamp copy (or) entry visa copy (or) residence visa copy (or) cancelled visa documentation copy (if applicable).
    3. 10 color passport size photographs for all partners with white background
    4. A No Objection Letter from the sponsor in case the applicant has a valid residence in UAE
    5. A 2 page business plan if it’s a professional or e-commerce license. 1 paragraph description of the nature of the business if it’s a commercial trading or general trading company

  3. Branch of a foreign Company (BFC)

    Licences under this category are issued to companies established outside the UAE. The ownership of the company should be 100% foreign. However, sales can be made through a UAE registered agent or a distributor only. The activity may be commercial, industrial or professional/services.

      Documents required
    1. A passport copy that is valid for 6 months minimum, for the representative or manager of the company. Entry visa stamp copy (or) entry visa copy (or) residence visa copy (or) cancelled visa documentation copy (if applicable).
    2. 8 color passport size photographs with white background
    3. A Registration Certificate issued by the competent authority in the country in which the company is registered
    4. Contract of association of the company
    5. A resolution issued by the competent authority to the company for carrying out the activity in the Free Zone and
    6. Appointment of a representative or manager by virtue of a duly attested Power of Attorney
    7. A 2 page business plan if it’s a professional or e-commerce license. 1 paragraph description of the nature of the business if it’s a commercial trading or general trading company

  4. Branch of a UAE Company (BLC)

    Licences under this category are issued to companies holding a valid licence from any UAE licensing authority except from other Free Zones.

      Documents required
    1. A passport copy that is valid for 6 months minimum, for the representative or manager of the company. Entry visa stamp copy (or) entry visa copy (or) residence visa copy (or) cancelled visa documentation copy (if applicable).
    2. 10 color passport size photographs with white background
    3. An original Trade License
    4. An original Membership Certificate with the respective Chamber of Commerce
    5. An original Commercial Registration Certificate
    6. A 2 page business plan if it’s a professional or e-commerce license. 1 paragraph description of the nature of the business if it’s a commercial trading or general trading company
    7. Application Form

The parent company must have been active for at least 1 year prior to opening a branch.
Note: Documents mentioned in nos. 3, 4 and 5 with respect to the foreign companies shall be attested by the UAE Embassy in the concerned country and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the UAE.
